《活的英语这样说：向韩国外交官学英语》是为有较高英语学习基础的人在业余时间提高英语水平而编撰的。主要是以简短对话的方式，为读者提供生动的语言环境，使读者容易理解和掌。握一些英文俚语和俗语。
本书以英文对话为基础，以例句的形式针对对话中出现的难点和重点进行解释，详细分析了那些一词多义或一句多义的词句，并将每种意思都用例句说明，使得读者更能体会原汁原味的英文表达。
本书英文对话都经过精挑细选，非常贴近生活，每个对话都是与生活息息相关的，能够让读者现学现用，其对话幽默有趣，能提高读者的阅读兴趣，帮助读者建立英文学习的信心，让读者爱上英语学习。
本书除了介绍在英文中使用频率较高的俚语和俗语外，还介绍了平时常使用，但大家往往只知道一种用法的词句的其他用法，这样对提高有一定英文水平的读者的语言能力有很大帮助。
我学习英语、汉语、日语等外语已有几十年了，现在仍在学习。
在这个过程中，我深刻地领会到，学习语言的最大乐趣就是表达我们内心细腻的情感。我认为用自己学习的外语来表达爱情、憎恨、生气、鼓励、训斥，或者希望、挫折等细腻的情感，这些正是学习语言的真正快乐，也是最终的目标。
然而，在现实中，品尝这种快乐并不容易。我觉得这里有几个原因，合适的教材并不多也是其中之一。比如，虽然英语教材琳琅满目，但有助于表达我们内心深处情感的教材好像寥寥无几。
因此，为了分享学习英语的真正乐趣，为了那些愿意将书中学过的英语直接用于现实生活中的学习者们，我写了这本书。
翻阅本书可以知道，对话和例句的设计重点都是放在能表达我们日常情感和学习词汇上。
我注重的不是外交或商务谈判等场合使用的正式的语言，而是在下班之后，与同事或朋友一起，面前摆上一杯酒或茶，宣泄情绪的语言表达。
不管是什么语言，都拥有数千年的历史和独特的文化背景，因此，仅仅通过对几本书的学习，是无法获得流畅表达自己思想的语言能力的，但是我相信这本书有助于向这样的目标迈出第一步。
虽然学习语言的方法各有不同，但是，我想向读者介绍我个人认为好的学习外国语言的方法。
首先，我希望大家将听力作为重中之重。
只有反复聆听，然后再说，如此一来，发音才会准确，才能减少说出不地道外语的可能性。
本书的音频资料，录制了每一课的对话，我希望读者先听2～3遍，再念一次，以这样的形式，重复训练至少50次以上。
50次以上，听起来好像很多，但以我个人的经验，我听了100次以上，记不住的句子仍有不少。
